Pheasants Forever believes the future of conservation and our hunting heritage depends upon today's youth having the desire and opportunities to carry on the ethical traditions of this organization. At both the national and chapter level, Pheasants Forever is investing in sound programs enriched with events such as youth mentor hunts, conservation events and habitat projects. The Leopold Education Project (LEP) is PF's way of providing conservation education for its members, as well as formal and informal educators. The LEP is an innovative, interdisciplinary educational program based on the classic writings of the renowned conservationist, Aldo Leopold. The LEP was developed to teach the public about humanity's ties to the natural world and to provide leadership in the effort to conserve and protect the earth's natural resources. Youth are invited to become a part of the PF Ringnecks Program, which is dedicated to introducing youth to hunting, shooting sports and outdoor conservation through youth events, education, community service and cooperation with both governmental and non-governmental partnerships. Through a variety of programs, youth gain knowledge, learn skills and develop a land ethic necessary to be responsible hunters and conservationists. As they grow up, they can in turn pass on the outdoor traditions of their youth to future generations.
Chapters themselves are an extremely instrumental component of PF's education mission at the grassroots level, with each typically holding youth mentor hunts and working with other local educational organizations to connect youth to conservation and the great outdoors.
